Cancer Pain

What is Cancer Pain?

Cancer can cause pain by growing into nearby tissues, pressing on nerves, or causing inflammation. Cancer treatments, such as surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, can also cause pain. Cancer pain can be acute or chronic.

Some people with cancer may experience mild, intermittent pain, while others may experience severe, persistent chronic pain.

An increasing number of cancer patients are turning to plant based medications to help manage their cancer pain symptoms when other traditional medications and treatments are not working, or in combination with traditional treatments.

What are the most common types of cancer pain?

What are traditional treatments for cancer pain?

Persistent cancer pain can be difficult to treat but can sometimes be controlled or reduced by opioids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or antidepressants, as well as non-medication approaches such as radiation therapy, nerve blocks, or acupuncture.

Are there alternative options to treat cancer pain?

It is important for patients with cancer pain to work with their current healthcare provider in addition to an authorised practitioner to find a treatment plan that effectively manages their pain, doesn’t affect current medications or treatment, and minimises side effects.

If you are experiencing cancer related pain and have tried other medications and pain management strategies that haven’t worked for you, we encourage you to seek medical advice and speak with one of our experienced practitioners. After a thorough assessment of your specific needs, our practitioners will determine if plant based treatment options are suitable for you.
