Parkinson’s Disease

What is Parkinson’s Disease and the symptoms?

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects predominantly dopamine-producing neurons in a specific area of the brain. The cause remains largely unknown. There is no cure. Symptoms generally develop slowly over years. The progression of symptoms differs per individual due to the diversity of the disease. People with PD may experience:

- Tremors
- Bradykinesia - impairment of voluntary motor control and slow movements
- Limb rigidity - stiffness of the arms or legs beyond what would result from normal aging or arthritis
- Gait and balance problems

Studies have shown that plant based endocannabinoid medicines can potentially improve Parkinson’s Disease symptoms? Plant based medicines may improve tremors in people with Parkinson’s Disease[1]. A recent Parkinson's Disease and endocannabinoid clinical study showed over 40% of trial users reported that it helped manage pain and muscle cramps, and more than 20% of users reported a reduction of stiffness (akinesia), freezing, tremor, depression, anxiety, and restless legs [2].
